Design

The WHA visual system — brand colors, typography and imagery, as built in the wha2025 theme.

This section documents the WHA visual system as it's actually built in the wha2025 theme, so new work stays on-brand and consistent.

Philosophy

The theme owns the look and feel. Colors, type, spacing and layout are decided once, in code, not chosen page by page in WordPress. There's no theme builder, no open color picker, no arbitrary font sizes: just the brand palette and a fixed type scale, surfaced as named options.

That's deliberate. An editor shouldn't have to think about how a page will look, only whether the content is right. Fewer options means fewer decisions, a more cohesive site, and less to knock out of alignment. When the visual system needs to change, it changes in one place and updates everywhere.

  • Colors — the brand palette, where each color is used and which combinations pass contrast.
  • Typography — the typeface, size scale and breakpoints.
  • Imagery — the image sizes the theme uses and what to upload.

For accessibility beyond color contrast — keyboard, structure, alt text — see Accessibility.
